This week, House Republicans pushed through a plan that would cut $61 billion from current government spending levels for the remainder of fiscal year 2011, which ends on September 30. Longtime Democratic Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank shares his view of the budget battle.

Legendary TV journalist Belva Davis tells her incredible story of rising from the projects of Oakland to become an award-winning television reporter known around the world, in her new memoir, Never in My Wildest Dreams: A Black Woman’s Life in Journalism.

For 32 years, Michael Fosberg believed he was a white American, who grew up in a middle class family. Then, after searching for and finding his biological father, he found out that he's actually a Black man. He details discovering his true identity in the book, Incognito: An American Odyssey of Race and Self-Discovery.

Growing up in East L.A., Taboo, a founding member of The Black Eyed Peas, defied expectations early on, rejecting limitations imposed on him, and stayed true to his dream of becoming a star. He’s now sharing his story in the new book, Fallin’ Up: My Story.
