Illinois and Connecticut join 11 other states that will offer lower in-state tuition for undocumented students this summer. The changes are part of new laws going into effect regarding the higher education of such students. Daniel Hurley, director of state relations and policy analysis at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, offers clarity on these new changes and what it means for colleges and students across the country.

Writer Malcolm Gladwell gives us an update on his New York Times best-selling text, Outliers: The Story of Success, now out in paperback. The book explores the universal fascination with success and the stories behind some of today’s most successful people.

In spite of increased environmental knowledge, some might say the planet is in its worse shape ever. The problem, according to Charles Saylan, is that environmental education has failed to translate awareness into action. It’s the focus of the new book, The Failure of Environmental Education (And How We Can Fix It). Saylan, executive director of the Ocean Conservation Society, is co-author of the text.

Grammy-winning singer Patti Austin couples her signature soulful sound with notable tracks from her peers on an album made up entirely of covers of her favorite songs entitled, “Sound Advice.”
