Hour One

“Where do we go from here...The Promise of Peace in the 21st Century.” As America continues to be mired in two wars, Israel attempts to find peace with its Middle East neighbors and even Africa continues its search for stability, the world is posed with that transcendent “Kingian” question, “Will it be nonviolence or nonexistence?”

Recorded live the Martin Luther King Institute on the campus of Stanford University, Tavis and a panel of experts in nonviolent resistance and environmentalism wrestle with the prospect of peace and social justice in the 21st century; and creating the sustainable environment in which for it to thrive.

Dr. Clayborne Carson, professor of history and founding director of the Martin Luther King, Jr., Research and Education Institute.

Eric Mann, Director of the Strategy Center, a 45-year veteran in anti-war, labor, and environmental organizing.

Mary Elizabeth King, professor of peace and conflict studies at the UN-affiliated University for Peace.

Michael Nagler, professor emeritus of Classics and Comparative Literature at UC Berkeley.

Kiran Bir Sethi, founder/ Director of The Riverside School in India.

Vincent Harding, former Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee adviser and architect of the Martin Luther King Jr. speech, Beyond Vietnam.

Dorothy Cotton, former Education Director for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
