Gil Scott-Heron is best known for telling America in 1970 that “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” – but his influence extends far beyond that seminal lyric. His genius has been celebrated by musicians, scholars, writers and rappers for decades. His story is the subject of a new biography, “Gil Scott-Heron: Pieces of a Man”, by Marcus Baram, managing editor of the “International Business Times”.
