There is arguably no music more quintessentially American than the blues, jazz and gospel songs that were born in the Deep South. In 1994, Tim and Denise Duffy set out to preserve Southern musical traditions and support the artists behind them by founding the Music Maker Relief Foundation. The foundation is marking its 20th anniversary this fall with a double-CD set of traditional music, an exhibit at the New York Public Library and a new book of photos called “We Are the Music Makers! Preserving the Soul of America’s Music”. Tim Duffy joins us to talk about the foundation’s work.
