  1. this book is one I wan to read.

  2. Tavis, THANK YOU for this interview! I am almost finished with the book that was given to me as a gift for Christmas. I have had a hard time putting the book down; I felt like I was there! Jake: Thank you for writing this book and getting these stories out. I so appreciate your candor and the detail you provide in the book. I am glad you did not gloss over personalities even when those personalities revealed weaknesses of character at times. I thought your treatment of individuals was both respectful and honest. You mention “riveting” in this interview. That single word describes it best for me. I will read this book again after my next couple of reads. I have recommended the book to many who are starting to read it and will loan it to someone that asked to read it. THANK YOU for your love of those who place themselves between those bent on destroying us and all Americans. They deserve all the recognition you gave them in THE OUTPOST and much, much more. The impact of experiences like those at COP Keating are sacrifices these men made and will carry with them their entire lives, for us.

  3. Rec The Outpost as a gift over Xmas from my son (who is in the military) and finished it today. Very good book. I have heard the Army has taken steps to prevent this type of attack from being successful in the future. Our troops today are in some bad stuff as compared to previous wars, I have another family member who did two tours in Iraq and is still dealing with the effects of camp shocker. There-again, my dad is still sometimes back at Pork Chop hill in 1953 Korea, War is hell as they say..
